Description

This training will educate practitioners on child support, family court, and fatherhood. The focus will be working with the child support agency and family court systems on issues of support, custody, and visitation. Providers will learn about current practices in Alameda County’s Department of Child Support and Family Court Services.

A complimentary lunch will be provided.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Participants will be able to:
  • Explain how and why a child support case is opened.
  • Identify appropriate actions to take when a case is opened.
  • Explain the general process of how an order is obtained.
  • Describe how to contest a motion or change a court order.
  • Explain the difference between the Child Support Agency and Family Court.
  • Be able to communicate with clients about the child support program and family court.
  • Use resource information to appropriately refer clients for action needed in relation to support, custody, and visitation.
